Safety - What the Auto Press Says

When it comes to safety, the main thing the 2008 GMC Yukon has going for it is its size. The federal government gives the Yukon a 5-star rating for frontal and side crash tests. CNET notes that "while this is admirable in any car, it is not too surprising for one this big." The Yukon only gets 3 out of 5 stars from the government in rollover safety.

Accident Avoidance

Despite mixed crash test results, the GMC Yukon comes with a number of standard accident avoidance features. GM's StabiliTrak traction control system is standard, as are four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Crash Protection

Dual-stage front air bags with a front passenger sensing system are standard. For 2008, GM now includes its advanced side-curtain air bags as a standard feature for all models. These air bags deploy during an impact or right before the vehicle rolls over.
