Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Hummer H2 has attention-getting looks. "For most people, the most important H2 attribute is its ability to draw a crowd," says Automobile Magazine, adding "on the street-cred scale, the macho truck scores a perfect ten."

Most reviewers agree that the SUT's exterior styling, adapted from the military Humvees, is a major draw. "If you love a bold vehicle that turns heads and makes the statement, 'get out of my way,' you'll love the H2," says Kelley Blue Book. Its most prominent feature is its seemingly short truck-bed with a midgate - which The Star Press asserts, "[L]ets the driver convert it from a five-passenger SUV with a small pickup truck bed to a two-passenger pickup with a 6-foot bed." Nevertheless, Business Week Online says, "The downside is that opening up the mid-gate on a frigid winter day isn't very practical."

Motor Trend says the H2 is " unmistakably Hummer," and the "shape is an aerodynamic brick." U.S. News' reviewer, Rick Newman reports "Unsolicited remarks on the street were overwhelmingly gaga," and adds "military chic is in."  Despite the H2s muscular, masculine, military looks, About.com found that the attention the H2 garnered was "overwhelmingly positive -- and female." Automobile.com sums it up best, saying "the Hummer H2 is the perfect vaulted pedestal to satisfy even the most ardent exhibitionist."

Though every 2008 Hummer SUT comes equipped with a sunroof and full undercarriage/rocker panel protection, only the SUT Adventure features standard roof rack crossbars. The base-trim and Adventure SUT are outfitted with 17-in. cast aluminum wheels, while the SUT Lux features 17-in. chromed cast aluminum wheels. Roof rack cross bars and chromed wheels, however, are available as options for all trims.
