Reliability

The 2008 Honda Fit reliability score of 10.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

The 2008 Honda Fit comes with a standard three-year or 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, as well as a five-year or 60,000 mile powertrain limited warranty. Corrosion protection is provided for the first five years, regardless of mileage.

Just introduced in the United States last year, the Fit does not have a lengthy reputation. Still, reviewers report Honda's consistent record for reliability applies to the Fit as well.

  • "Fit offers an enviable blend of fuel economy, space efficiency, and driving pleasure. Cabin materials fall short of what we've come to expect from Honda, but this frugal subcompact still earns our Recommended honor." -- Consumer Guide
  • "We still consider the 2008 Honda Fit to be a class leader among a fresh crop of subcompacts that includes the Kia Rio5, Nissan Versa and Scion xD." -- Edmunds
  • In its 2007 review of the Honda Fit, Autobytel notes, "Honda has built a reputation as a maker of high quality cars, so the chances are that Fits on your local lot are nailed down nicely." -- Autobytel
  • When speaking of the Fit and subcompacts in general, the Union-Tribune notes, "While their predecessors were cheap and built to stay that way, these offerings are not priced as giveaways, nor are they throwaways after the warranty runs out." -- San Diego Union-Tribune
