Reliability
The 2008 Hyundai Azera reliability score of 8.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).
Based on the U.S. News analysis of reliability information from a number of different sources, the Hyundai Azera receives very good marks for predicted reliability. Hyundai offers a five-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty.
The Hyundai Azera also comes with a ten-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty and five-years of 24-hour roadside assistance.
The powertrain warranty is particular noteworthy, which Forbes calls "one of the most extensive warranties in the business." The San Francisco Chronicle cites this warranty as "Hyundai's big sales clincher," not always found on cars in this price range.
The San Antonio Express-News believes that "despite Hyundai's remarkable improvement in quality and reliability over the past few years, it's going to take a while longer to convince the buying public that Hyundai vehicles are worth as much as Toyotas." Road and Track notes that Hyundai "is continuing to build better cars each year, to the point that most of its models are competitive with their Japanese counterparts." Newsday concludes that "reliability, once a sore spot for Hyundai, appears to be becoming a non-issue."
