Based on analysis of 63 G-35 reviews and test drives.
Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2008 Infiniti G does well in government and insurance industry crash tests, and a number of available safety features and systems make the 2008 Infiniti G sedan a solid choice where safety is concerned.
The 2008 G earned five out of five stars for the driver and four out of five stars for the passengers in frontal impact tests. In side crashes, the G35 earned five stars for both the front seat and backseat occupants' protection. Both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive models receive a five-star rollover rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the 2008 G35 the highest rating, "Good" in front-impact crash tests.
Accident Avoidance
To help avoid an accident, all G35 sedans come standard with electronic stability control and brake assist. "Corner fast enough and the rear end will slide a bit, with the electronic stability control stepping in to keep the car from getting too far sideways," says About.com. If buyers want more safety systems, they can add on the Technology Package, which includes Intelligent Cruise Control, a system that adjusts speeds for traffic conditions without driver input; adaptive front lighting (headlights swivel up to 17 degrees to provide better lighting in turns); preview braking, which uses sensors to detect an impending stop or slowdown and primes the brake hydraulics; and a rearview video monitor to aid in backing up.
Crash Protection
The 2008 Infiniti G sedan is engineered to help passengers survive a crash. Roadfly notes that even bad drivers are "mitigated by at least eight airbags and active headrests." Standard on all models are dual-stage front air bags with occupant detection, side-impact and side curtain air bags in the front seats, and rear side-impact air curtains. Active headrests protect against whiplash and other motion-related injuries.
