Safety - What the Auto Press Says
Standard safety features on the Infiniti G37 are similar to those offered on other cars in its class. The G37 hasn't yet been subject to crash testing by the federal government or by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Accident Avoidance
The G37 comes standard with four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, and with Vehicle Dynamic Control, Infiniti's version of stability control. An optional feature called "preview braking," explains Forbes, "automatically pre-pressurizes the brake lines in anticipation of a panic stop." It's a feature, says Newsday, that is "packaged with -- because it is partly dependent on -- 'intelligent' cruise control, which maintains a set following distance from the car ahead." Headlights that swivel during turns to provide better illumination are optional.
Crash Protection
Six air bags are standard on the G37. These include side-curtain air bags for both rows of seats and side-impact air bags for the front row. Seat belts that tighten in response to sudden braking are optional, while active head restraints are standard.
