Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Jeep Compass does well in federal government crash tests. It's also equipped with an array of safety equipment. "Jeep didn't skimp on the Compass' standard safety features," says Cars.com.

The Compass receives 4 out of 5 stars for both driver and passenger safety in frontal crash tests. In side crash tests, it gets 5 stars for front-seat and rear-seat safety. Both the front- and all-wheel-drive models get a rollover rating of 4 stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not yet tested the 2007 or 2008 Compass.

Accident Avoidance

The 2008 Jeep Compass comes standard with anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, all-speed traction control and Brake Assist.

Crash Protection

The Compass also comes with multistage driver and front-passenger air bags, and front and rear side-curtain air bags. Seat-mounted side-impact air bags are optional for front-seat occupants. The Compass's crush zones are designed to help reduce injuries in the event of an accident.
