Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Writers are generally impressed with the 2008 Land Rover LR3's long list of standard safety features. While Car and Driver says that it's "comprehensively equipped," Edmunds boasts that "Land Rover also went all out with the safety features." The federal government has not yet crash-tested the LR3.

Accident Avoidance

New Car Test Drive brags that "an array of electronic systems help the driver to better control the vehicle in emergency stopping and handling situations." Every 2008 Land Rover LR3 comes outfitted with a four-channel, four-wheel, all-terrain Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Active Roll Mitigation (ARM), electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). Moreover, a vehicle security system with perimetric protection, keyless entry, Front Park Distance Control (PDC), and child locks for rear windows/doors help to ensure that accidents are avoided.

Crash Protection

In the event that an accident does occur, the Land Rover LR3 comes competitively equipped with a long list of crash protection goodies. Standard features include eight air bags (first-row driver and passenger front, side and head curtain air bags, as well as second- and third-row head curtain airbags), side-door impact beams, front and rear crumple zones, collapsible steering column, seat belts for all seating positions, head restraints for all outboard seating positions , as well as a collision-activated inertia switch -- which unlocks doors, turns off the fuel pump, and turns on hazard lights upon impact.
