Interior - What the Auto Press Says

Though the Maserati GranTurismo is criticized for its uncomfortable seats and lack of standard convenience features, it receives accolades for its overall fit and finish. "The other cars don't look like the GranTurismo, and the interior's sumptuous hand-stitched surfaces make the others' seem more commonplace," reports Car and Driver.

The 2008 GranTurismo has what Cars.com refers to as "high-quality leather and wood, as well as chrome accents on the dashboard." Best of all, its interior touches are just as customizable as its exterior. Car and Driver explains: "What the Maserati can brag about is a dizzying number of color combinations for every surface of the car. The rich leather that covers the seats, dashboard, steering wheel, and gearshift boot can be had in 10 different hues, plus the carpet, trunk carpet, headliner-even the stitching-can match or clash at your desire. "

Seating

The 2008 Maserati GranTurismo's cabin features four sport seats with heating in the front and electrical adjustability for the driver. Critics, however, are left unimpressed. Not only does Automobile Magazine say that tall people "will wish for more legroom and a better-contoured seat," but also adds that "access to the rear passenger compartment is difficult." AutoWeek says that while the rear seat offers plenty of child-size space, there's only "adequate knee room" and certainly "not enough [room] for an adult head."

Interior Features

When compared to other vehicles in its class and price range, the GranTurismo appears bare-bones. "The Maserati lacks the electronic gadgets available on the Benz, BMW, and Jaguar, but some people consider that a bonus," says Car and Driver. "There are no massaging, adaptive, or cooled seats; no adaptive cruise control; no night vision; and no overly complicated infotainment system."

Standard interior comfort and convenience features include leather upholstery and a navigation system, as well as a Bose AM/FM/CD audio system with eleven speakers. Both the audio and navigation systems are linked to a voice-activated control system.

Cargo

The GranTurismo offers 9.2 cubic feet of cargo space -- which Automobile Magazine says is "too small," but AutoWeek contends is still "big enough for two sets of golf clubs." Additional storage features include full dashboard and floor consoles, as well as front door pockets and front/rear cup holders.
