Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2008 Mazda B-Series does relatively well in federal government crash tests. However, its standard safety equipment is sparse, and such valuable features as side-curtain airbags and electronic stability control are not even available.
The 2008 model earns a top score of five stars for driver protection in frontal crashes, and four stars for front passenger protection. In side crashes, it earns five stars for front-seat occupant protection. Rear-seat occupant protection is not rated. It receives a three-star rollover rating in 2WD. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety has not yet rated the 2008 B-Series, but gave the 2007 model a second-best rating of "Average" in frontal offset tests.
Accident Avoidance
Anti-lock brakes are standard on the 2008 Mazda B-Series.
Crash Protection
Standard crash protection equipment includes front side-impact door beams, dual front air bags, a passenger-side air bag deactivation switch, front safety belt pretensioners with force limiters, and three-point safety belts for outboard seating positions.
