Reliability
The 2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliability score of 8.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).
Mazda offers warranty coverage on all of its cars, including a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Mazda also offers a standard five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Forbes praises: "The track record of Miatas is excellent. These have been reliable cars, and there's no reason to think they won't continue to be." Newsday similarly comments, "Mazda had taken the European concept of a roadster and had added two typically Japanese ingredients: affordability and, more important, reliability." The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel tops off the praise, saying, "Now in its 18th year, the MX-5 Miata delivers high quality and reliability."
