Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Mazda5 has had neither government nor insurance industry tests administered to determine its crash protection.

Accident Avoidance

Mazda offers power assist, anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist for the Mazda5. The tire pressure monitoring system is optional for the top two trims.

Crash Protection

In the event of an accident, the Mazda5 has three-point safety belts in all seating positions. The driver and front passenger have advanced front and side air bags, and all three rows receive side curtain coverage. The Mazda5's second row has the lower anchors and tethers for children(LATCH) system for child passengers.
