Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Mazda RX-8 comes with a number of standard safety features that help it perform well in government crash tests.

In government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Mazda RX-8 earns a rollover rating of five out of five stars. In frontal crash tests, the RX-8 earns five out of five stars for passenger protection and four out of five stars for driver protection. The RX-8 also earned four out of five stars for both front and back-seat protection in side impact crashes.

Accident Avoidance

The 2008 Mazda RX-8 comes outfitted with ventilated front/rear brakes, as well as a four-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). While Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control systems are not available for the RX-8 Sport, they are standard on the Touring and Grand Touring trims. Also standard is a tire pressure monitoring system.

Crash Protection

Crash protection features standard on every RX-8 include driver and front passenger front/side/curtain air bags and three-point front seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters.
