The 2008 Mazda Tribute does well in federal government crash tests. leading to a good safety score. "The brightest news for the 2008 Tribute is in the safety arena, where side-impact and curtain air bags, roll-sensing stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system have become standard across the lineup," says Car and Driver.
The Tribute earns for four out of five stars for driver safety and a top score of five stars for passenger safety in frontal crash tests. In side crash tests, it gets top scores of five stars for both front- and rear-seat safety. The 2WD and 4WD models get rollover ratings of just three stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the 2008 Tribute a second-best score of "Acceptable" in frontal offset tests and a top score of "Good" in side impact tests.
Accident Avoidance
The 2008 Mazda Tribute features an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). The vehicle also has Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) to reduce torque and apply braking to minimize over steering during emergency reactions, Roll Stability Control (RSC) and a Traction Control System (TCS).

The 2008 Mazda Tribute is equipped with advanced front air bags for driver and passenger as well as side air bags and side curtain air bags.
