Mercury Grand Marquis Interior Review
Interior - 6.9 (Mediocre)
The Grand Marquis cabin is roomy with overly soft seating, a simple dash and dated design. The Orlando Sentinel finds that "yes, you can put six in the Grand Marquis, but hopefully it's a short trip to the early-bird buffet."
Seating
The Grand Marquis offers space to seat six, with a spacious cabin and bench seating. Edmunds reports that the "wide, spacious interior," "can seat up to six in a pinch," with hip and shoulder room cited as "particularly impressive thanks to the ultra-wide body." Automobile Magazine adds that Mercury Grand Marquis fans "love both its bench seats," "and the ease of entering and exiting its cabin." Kelley Blue Book adds that seats are "wide and comfortable," and the front seats are spacious with dual armrests. The Orlando Sentinel says that the "cloth-covered seats offer little lateral support."
The rear seats of the are considered "spacious" and "wide enough for three adults, but floor hump intrudes," and the seat is "too soft for best long-distance comfort," says Consumer Guide.
Interior Features
Auto reviewers find the interior features on the Grand Marquis uncomplicated and straightforward. "Controls and instruments are simple and easy to decipher," reports Edmunds, "but the overall design is dated." Kelley Blue Book reports that the dash layout is "easy-to-understand." Edmunds auto writers add that the "linear instrument panel has large digital displays, and while it looks dated, it's highly legible and gets the job done," although materials are "mediocre," and the "center console is simple to use, but only if you can reach it; drivers with shorter arms will find the placement of the controls a stretch."
The Grand Marquis GS interior comes standard with an AM/FM stereo with single CD player; cupholders; dual ashtrays, map pockets; day/night rearview mirror; sliding driver and passenger visors; premium cloth seats with eight-way power lumbar and recline control, and carpeted floor mats.
Automobile Magazine reports that the standard equipment featured on the Grand Marquis LS "supplies all the necessities." The Grand Marquis LS cabin has an AM/FM stereo with single CD player with optional six-disc in-dash CD changer or dual-media AM/FM stereo with cassette/single CD player, rear armrest with cupholders, overhead console, rear-seat reading lights, electrochromic auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-trimmed seating, Electronic Automatic Temperature Control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and power adjustable pedals.
Cargo
The Grand Marquis comes with 20.6 cubic feet of trunk space, which auto reviewers find excellent capacity for its class. Edmunds reports that the trunk is "quite large," with "space capable of swallowing copious amounts of luggage or several sets of golf clubs." Automobile Magazine calls the trunk space "class-leading" and says it "could accommodate the baggage of a basketball team's starting lineup and their driver." Consumer Guide says the trunk "concentrates space in a deep center well, so some bulky items are a tough fit." Kelley Blue Book concludes that the "huge trunk is exactly what many golfers love about this car."
