Reliability

The 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis reliability score of 8.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

Mercury offers warranty coverage on all of its cars, including a three-year/36,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty.

Specific engine, transmission and front-wheel drive components are covered for five years or 60,000 miles. Body sheet metal is covered for five years and unlimited mileage.

Edmunds reports that the Grand Marquis has an "old-school" car design, which merits the benefits of "robust simplicity and cheap maintenance costs (which, naturally, make it a favorite of the nation's livery and law enforcement communities)."

Identifix, a respected company that collects long-term reliability data, reports that earlier models of the Mercury Grand Marquis have had some reliability issues with the Fuel Pump.
