Reliability

The 2008 Mercury Mariner-Hybrid reliability score of 5.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

Mercury supports the Mariner with a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. The Mariner also comes equipped with a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and a five-year/unlimited mileage rust warranty, along with five-year/60,000-mile Roadside Assistance coverage.

The Mariner's unique hybrid components are covered by an extended warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles. These unique hybrid components include the high-voltage battery, electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT) and the AC/DC converter; some states require higher mileage warranties on the hybrid battery. Mercury also offers an extended warranty on specific components of the Hybrid Emissions System.
