Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Altima's recently redesigned exterior has a sweeping style reminiscent of other Nissan automobiles, and reviewers generally appreciate, if not love, its appearance. Additionally, the 2008 Altima's exterior scores higher than the redesigned sheetmetal of both the Honda Accord and Chevy Malibu.

  • "The 2008 Nissan Altima is now an even more versatile (and attractive) choice in the always competitive midsize segment." -- Edmunds
  • "The exterior of the car wasn't bad. It has sporty yet mature-looking lines, and it has an attractive appearance." -- Mother Proof
  • "Even a quick glance shows that the Altima is rich in Nissan family cues, most notably in its grille, headlamp and taillamp treatments. However, the lines and contours of its crisply rendered sheetmetal display a bit more aggressive edge than you'll find in the Sentra or Maxima." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "I'm no great fan of the Altima's styling. The car's T-shaped front grille has some gravitas to it, and the jewel-like headlamps look particularly pricey for a car in this class. But all in all, it seems like designers feared being too bold, not wanting to mess with a working formula. That said, the body creases look great and the flattened wheel-well arches give the car an expensive look." -- BusinessWeek
