Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Some call the 2008 Versa another boxy, boring design, in keeping with its competitors, but others describe the car's appearance as goofy. Car and Driver explains how the Versa's design is better received in different countries. "Elsewhere in the world, where roads are narrow and space is tight, the Versa has plenty of tall, narrow company; here, where cars are longer, lower, and wider, the Versa is a bit goofy-looking."
The 2008 Nissan Versa was first introduced as a five-door hatchback last year, and the four-door sedan came shortly afterward. Both version's front grille and large headlamps are the distinct markings of any Nissan car, reviewers say. However, reviewers don't agree on whether the Versa's styling is different from other cars within its class. While the Detroit News represents the camp that likes the Versa's "serious 'face' with a long hood," and says the car "is not burdened with the cutesy styling of some of its competitors," Edmunds speaks for those who say the five-door model has "the same goofy-looking profile" that other hatchbacks' possess.
The Nissan Versa hatchback is 169.1-inches long, 66.7-inches wide and 60.4-inches tall. It comes standard with 15-inch all-season tires and with steel wheels for the S trim and six-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with the SL. The Versa sedan has the same width and height of the hatchback, but is 176-inches long.
