2008 Pontiac G6 Convertible Exterior Review
Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
One thing's for sure -- the two-door G6 convertible's smooth body lines and swift retractable roof are considered a plus. With the hardtop up, the car "could pass for a conventional sleek coupe," MSN says. Lowering the top unveils a convertible that "may be the style leader," Edmunds suggests.
Notwithstanding its style, reviewers say the versatility of the 2008 G6 convertible's retractable roof is what makes it appealing. New Car Test Drive's writers were not the only ones to test the top's efficiency. They found: "The big top opens and closes within 30 seconds…it works exceptionally well, powering up or down with the press of a button. Hold the button down after it's done and the windows will power up or down appropriately," they conclude.
The Chicago Tribune represents those who appreciate the G6's hard cover over a flimsy ragtop, noting that "you don't have canvas flapping in the breeze when cruising with the top up and windows open." To Consumer Guide, the benefit of a hardtop lies in its "all-weather security."
However, not all the convertible's design elements are well-received. Numerous reviews touch on the G6's long doors as a hindrance, and both MSN and Consumer Guide describe them as a hassle in tight parking spots.
