The 2008 Pontiac G6 is available as a sedan, convertible or coupe. There are two coupe trims -- the GT and the GXP.
The G6 GT Coupe has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 219 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 219 pound-feet of torque at 3200 rpm. The GXP comes with a 3.6-liter with 252 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 251 pound-feet of torque at 3200 rpm. The EPA rates both engines at 17 miles per gallon on city streets and 26 mpg on the highway. The 3.5-liter engine is paired with a four-speed automatic and the 3.6-liter engine has a six-speed automatic. Both transmission are electronically controlled with overdrive, and include driver shift control.
The G6 Coupe's hydraulic power steering works with a sport suspension, with a direct acting front stabilizer bar, enhanced steering rack bushing and a thicker rear stabilizer bar. The GT Coupe also has full-functioning traction control with standard anti-lock brakes and the option for driver-controlled StabiliTrak. StabiliTrak is standard for the GXP trim.
The two-door, four-seater coupes have a full arsenal of standard OnStar ® services, including hands-free calling and a turn-by-turn navigation system. Standard audio is a Monsoon ® eight-speaker system with high-mounted tweeters and a subwoofer. A three-month satellite radio trial is also standard. Notable optional features include leather seats, a remote vehicle starter system, and power adjustable pedals. Pontiac's Sun and Sound Package includes a six-disc CD changer and a power sunroof.
With standard dual-stage frontal, side-impact and head-curtain side-impact air bags, the 2008 Pontiac G6 Coupe does very well in government crash tests. The car earned five out of five stars for the driver and four stars for the front passenger's protection in front crashes. In side impact crashes, the G6 Coupe earned five stars for both the front seat and backseat occupants' protection. Lastly, the Coupe has a five-star rollover rating. OnStar services extend to AccidentAssist, Emergency Services, and Roadside Assistance in the event of an accident.
Pontiac offers a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty for the G6. The G6 Coupe also has a powertrain warranty for the first five years or 100,000 miles.
