Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera comes equipped with a wide array of safety features. The federal government, however, has not yet conducted crash tests on this year's model.
Accident Avoidance
In addition to an anti-lock braking system (ABS), four-piston monobloc fixed alloy calipers and ventilated disc brakes, the 2008 Carrera features Porsche Stability Management (PSM). To increase road traction, the Carrera 4, 4S, and Targa 4 are outfitted with automatic slip regulation (ASR) and Intelligent All-wheel Drive. Though the Targa 4S follows a rear-wheel drive-train, it also comes equipped with ASR.
Crash Protection
Crash protection features standard on every 911 Carrera include dual front, side, and head air bags. While all trims come equipped with side-door beams, only the Carrera 4, 4S, Targa 4, and Targa 4S feature front and rear crumple zones.
