The 2008 Suzuki XL7 does very well in government and insurance industry crash tests.

In government crash tests, the 2008 XL7 earned five out of five stars for front and side crashes. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive models have a four-star rollover rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the 2008 XL7 the highest rating, "Good," for frontal offset tests, but lower scores of "Average" and "Marginal" for side impact and rear protection, respectively.
