Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Overall, auto writers seem more than satisfied with the level of safety maintained by the Camry Solara. Furthermore, the 2008 model does well in government crash tests.

The 2008 Toyota Camry Solara earned five stars for both frontal offset and side impact tests, and receives a four-star rollover rating in tests conducted by the federal government.

Accident Avoidance

All 2008 Solara Coupes are equipped with standard anti-lock brakes and a Direct Tire Pressure Monitor system.

Optional with all trim levels are Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control and Brake Assist systems. Although not an option for the SE and Sport, the SLE comes standard with an anti-theft system.

Crash Protection

In addition to a Rear-seat Child Restraint System, engine immobilizer and internal trunk-release handle, all Coupe trim levels of the 2008 Solara come equipped with front seat-mounted side air bags and a driver/front passenger air bag system. While the Coupe comes standard with front and rear side curtain air bags, neither is available for the Solara Convertible (as is the case with all convertibles).
