Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Volvo has made a number of changes to its 2008 V70 to create a sleeker appearance. But there isn't agreement on how successful these revisions have been. Car and Driver notes, "It is true that the folks who buy Volvos are supposedly not terribly sensitive to fashion. And there are only so many ways to style a sedan-based wagon."
Most comment on the resemblance between this model and the previous one. Cars.com says, "Volvo has made the front end of the V70 a bit more assertive and muscular, but the basic shape of the previous V70 lives on in the new model." To Car and Driver, the new grille, lights, black pillars and liftgate don't distinguish the 2008 V70 from its roots. "See one coming up behind," they say, "and it's hard to know if it's a new V70 or the previous model."
