New 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid [ 2008 , 2007 ]
Honda Civic Hybrid
Overall Score - NA
The Civic Hybrid provides similar qualifications as the popular Toyota Prius while offering the conventional styling of a gas-engine sedan. But many reviewers report its around-town driving is weak, even for a hybrid vehicle.
The 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid compares well to both hybrid and small cars for its high quality, sleek design and fuel-sipping habits. Although many auto writers categorize the Civic Hybrid's performance as underwhelming, even among other small engine hybrids, the Civic Hybrid gets outstanding gas mileage -- second only to the popular Toyota Prius.
Although the gas-engine Civic offers a number of trims, a performance Si and a two-door coupe model, the 2009 Civic Hybrid is only offered as a four-door sedan. Honda has slightly refreshed the Civic Hybrid's exterior and added new interior features for 2009, but the powertrain and hybrid technology remain the same. If you're looking for a small car, also consider the conventional Civic, as well as the versatile Honda Fit. If you're interested in another hybrid vehicle, check out the Toyota Camry Hybrid as well as the Toyota Prius.
