Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The all-new Tiguan has not yet been crash-tested by the federal government or insurance industry. However, it comes with a robust variety of safety equipment.

  • "Visibility is good to all corners, but the side mirrors are somewhat short, making the blind spots a little bigger than we'd like." -- New Car Test Drive
  • "Tiguans also come with a full complement of safety equipment, including antilock brakes, side-curtain air bags and side air bags for the front seats, although you'll have to pay $350 extra if you want side air bags for the back seats. Also standard is VW's ESP, or electronic stabilization program, which compensates for driver handling errors." -- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • "Like all its VW stablemates, the Tiguan features the Prevent and Preserve Safety system with 45 safety features. Among those are six airbags, with rear side airbags as available options." -- Left Lane News
