The XC60 is powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission.
What the Auto Press Says
The XC60 has not yet been test driven, but initial reports show it to be a promising new crossover with stylish looks and powerful performance. Here is what the press has to say about the 2009 XC60:
- "With its glass roof, aggressively styled front grille with angles positioning lights on both sides, and high-tech interior, the XC60 Concept is anything but bland." -- Motor Trend
- "Sleek styling and a solid set of hardware could make this Volvo's most popular SUV yet." -- Edmunds
- "We have to agree with Volvo's PR machine that the XC60 is the best-looking vehicle in the brand's lineup, taking the look that the automaker has been evolving for some 15 years now and shaving off all the rough edges." -- Autoblog
- "We'll save a complete review, of course, until after we test a production model, but we suspect the XC60, based as it is on Volvo's S80 luxury sedan platform, should handle exceptionally well, and its turbocharged engine will likely put it near top of class in performance, too. We're already enamored by its looks and can't wait to try out the full capabilities of the XC60." -- MSN
- "Pretty cool stuff, but like Volvo admits, this segment is growing rapidly -- is 2009 too late of an arrival time to find real success?" -- Automobile Magazine
Key Details
The XC60 comes standard with all-wheel drive. It boasts plenty of hi-tech safety features, including Volvo's new City Safety system, which reduces low-speed impacts by automatically braking when the SUV is traveling at speeds under 18 mph.
