The 2014 Acura MDX earns praise from professional car reviewers for its refined driving dynamics and great fuel economy.
I am Jim Sharifi, Senior Editor with U.S. News Best Cars. Because it has the best combination of positive reviews, price, and long-term ownership costs in its class, we named the 2014 Acura MDX the Best Luxury 3-Row SUV for the Money. Does this mean you should head down to your local Acura dealer? Let's find out.
The Acura MDX is fully redesigned for 2014. The new MDX is lighter and brings an increase in fuel economy over previous model years. The base model MDX earns an EPA estimated fuel economy of 20 miles per gallon in the city, and 28 miles per gallon on the highway. With the optional All-wheel Drive however the numbers drop to 18 and 27. Four equipment packages are available for the 2014 MDX with prices starting at about $42,000.
The base 2014 MDX has front wheel drive with all-wheel-drive available as an option. The only power train offered is a 290 horsepower; 3.5 liter V-6 that reviewers say generates ample power. The engine is paired with a 6 feet automatic transmission. Reviewers are pleased with the MDX's suspension saying it strikes a good balance between ride and handling.
Inside, the MDX earns praise for its clean design and is well assembled with premium materials. The 2014 MDX has 3 rows and seats 7, and critics appreciate the new standard touchscreen saying it's easier to use than the buttons on the previous model.
A standard power liftgate gives access to 90.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third row seats folded.
