Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

While the previous RDX's exterior styling received criticism for being too ordinary, the 2010 model is criticized even more for sticking out in a crowd. Reviewers slam the updated exterior because it features Acura's large grille, which is almost universally disliked.

  • "Acura's cute 'ute gets a mid-cycle facelift to bring it in-line with the rest of the Acura line-up -- meaning if you haven't warmed up to Acura's shield grille you might want to look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you're partial to the new corporate beak, the RDX benefits from a few well-designed tweaks to boost its exterior appeal." -- Autoblog
  • "Remember the Acura Legend? How about the NSX? Banish those thoughts of beauty and cast your eyes upon the revolting beast that is the 2010 RDX. It curdles milk, it makes small children cry, women faint in its presence. We're tempted to throw rotten tomatoes at it." -- Jalopnik
  • "Acura's new company face, a big shield fixed into the grille, has landed on the RDX for 2010. It was the last model in the lineup to get it, and we have to say, it could have been left alone. Other design tweaks to the lower bumper and headlights are more welcome and add a beefier look overall. The backside gets some work, too, but it's harder to see the changes there. The dual exhaust pipes are now hexagonal instead of circular, and the license plate frame is slightly smaller." -- Kicking Tires
  • "Most who take a gander at the new RDX for the first time are going to see one thing: the beak. Acura has updated the RDX's exterior styling to encompass the company's new direction, one that features a large, solid overhang on the front grille that resembles a can opener. Because the RDX is a larger vehicle than many of its corporate brethren, the new grille doesn't look as bulky and awkward on the RDX as it does on, say, the TL." -- Motor Trend
