Used Car: 2013 Acura TL Review

Review Last Updated: 8/14/14

The 2013 Acura TL has a superb reliability rating, and automotive experts were impressed with its high-tech interior features, first-rate cabin materials and sharp handling.

Test drivers reported that the 2013 Acura TL’s base V6 engine provides strong acceleration. The TL comes standard with front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission. SH-AWD models come with a more powerful V6, all-wheel drive and either a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. According to the EPA, the base 2013 Acura TL gets 20/29 mpg city/highway, which is about average for a six-cylinder upscale midsize car. Critics wrote that the TL rides firmly, but smoothly. The base Acura TL has agile handling, test drivers reported, and the SH-AWD model’s handling is even sharper. According to reviewers, the TL’s brakes provide strong, immediate stopping power. Some added that the TL’s steering is light and responsive, though others noted that it’s a bit numb.

Most automotive journalists wrote that the 2013 Acura TL’s interior has high-end materials and an attractive, high-tech design theme. The majority of critics also said the TL’s front and rear seats are quite accommodating. The 2013 Acura TL has 13.1 cubic feet of trunk space, which is normal for the class. The SH-AWD model has 12.5 cubic feet, which is on the small side for the class. Test drivers were very impressed with the number of high-tech features in the TL. Some reviewers noted that the TL has an overwhelming number of buttons on its dashboard, but others said the TL’s controls are easy to use. Standard features include Bluetooth, satellite radio, a USB port, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a moonroof. Available features include a rearview camera, voice-controlled navigation, a 10-speaker ELS surround-sound audio system, ventilated front seats and blind spot monitoring.
