Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
With very few exceptions, reviewers aren’t fond of the 2010 TL’s enormous, pointed chrome grille. It earns comparisons to a beak, tooth, and an odd smile -- but few fail to comment on it. Past the unusual nose, the car is still polarizing. An angular look, complete with a trunk that comes to a point in the back, makes it one of the more unusual looking cars on the road. While most reviewers don’t seem to like the body, the car has sold well since the new design first appeared with the 2009 model year, so buyers may not mind…but it may be one you need to see in person.
- “Oddly beveled nose and chunky rear end " -- Edmunds
- "One of the main raps against the TL is its controversial styling, but I found that the car looks much better in reality than in photos. The grille does make the front-end seem like it has a goofy grin, but the car's angular styling makes the car less anonymous looking than previous TLs." -- Business Week
- "With a grille that looks like the face of a stoned Pokemon character and a rear end that defies summary description, the exterior of the Acura TLs (there are two: the base model and the SH-AWD, which replaces the Type-S) is bound to be polarizing." -- AutoWeek
- "Thus far, the opinions around the MT water cooler have been...it would be charitable to call them ‘mixed.'" -- Motor Trend
