Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Acura's new design for the 2009 TSX was an attempt to bring sexy back to the brand. But reviewer's verdict is mixed. Some say the look is sleek but not significant, and many have strong objections to the sedan's front grille. Nevertheless, the TSX was one of nine finalists for Kelley Blue Book's Best Redesign Award.
- "Honda and Acura have taken lumps in recent years for lackluster styling, and while the TSX does feature some sharper lines and a bolder chrome grille, the styling still lacks any sort of wowzer factor. But if subtle, clean lines are your idea of good styling, the TSX is great." -- AutoWeek
- "From a styling standpoint, the new TSX is pleasant but unremarkable" -- New York Times
- "Styling stays true to Acura themes for 2009, but cleans up here and there to give the car a more aggressive, more buff look and to emphasize its more planted stance." -- New Car Test Drive
- "Our jury's still out on Acura's new guillotine grille, but everything else on the car seems to work, especially the back end, which may be Acura's best yet." -- Car and Driver
- "The boldest step the TSX takes, in any direction, is in the 'plenum grille' styling. Unfortunately, it's a step in the wrong direction. In profile it's boring, from the rear, mildly attractive and from the front, it's a little scary." -- Jalopnik
- Speaking of the TSX's front grille, the L.A. Times notes, "This thing has a front toof like Ollie." -- Los Angeles Times
