Used Car: 2012 Acura TSX Review

Review Last Updated: 7/22/14

The 2012 Acura TSX comes loaded with standard features, and it pleased critics with an eye-catching interior design and a powerful available V6.

The 2012 Acura TSX is ranked:

Some test drivers wrote that the 2012 TSX’s standard four-cylinder engine provides strong power from a stop, while others felt that the base TSX has adequate power at best. Many reviewers preferred the V6 because it delivers a lot more passing power and is much smoother and quieter during hard acceleration. The TSX comes with a five-speed automatic transmission, though a six-speed manual is available on the four-cylinder TSX. The 2012 TSX gets up to an EPA-estimated 22/31 mpg city/highway, which is good for the class. Test drivers said the TSX has a firm ride, but they noted that it remains comfortable over uneven pavement. Most critics liked the TSX’s responsive and well-weighted steering system, strong brakes and composed handling. However, some reviewers said that the V6 models are heavier and feel less agile.

Critics liked the 2012 Acura TSX’s solidly constructed cabin, which features an attractive interior design and premium materials. The TSX earned praise for its roomy and supportive front seats, though some auto writers said that rear-seat passengers may want more legroom. At 14 cubic feet, the TSX’s trunk is large for the class, though hatchbacks like the Audi A3 offer more overall cargo space. The TSX comes standard with features like a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a seven-speaker audio system, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, satellite radio, a USB port, leather upholstery and heated, power-adjustable front seats. Available features include a rearview camera, navigation and a 10-speaker ELS surround sound audio system.

When it was new, we named the TSX our 2012 Best Upscale Small Car for Families.

Other Cars to Consider

Test drivers agreed that the 2012 Audi A3 has athletic handling and a ride that’s smooth enough to absorb most road imperfections. They also liked the Audi A3’s tasteful cabin design and top-quality interior materials.

The 2012 BMW 1-Series is available as a coupe or a convertible, and reviewers appreciated its luxurious interior. Additionally, the 1-Series pleased critics with its powerful engine choices, sharp handling, responsive steering and powerful brakes.
