Used Car: 2010 Acura ZDX Review
Introduced for 2010, the Acura ZDX is among the least practical SUVs you can buy, but if you’re looking for a performance-oriented vehicle with a bit more utility than a sports car, it’s a good choice.

Test drivers weren’t sure what to make of the 2010 Acura ZDX when it was introduced. It combines sports car-like driving dynamics with the higher riding position of an SUV. It has a good reliability rating, fairly good safety scores, it offers a luxurious interior and it has standard all-wheel drive. Like most Acuras, it comes with a long list of standard features, including a 10-way power-adjustable heated driver’s seat, leather trim and upholstery, a remote-controlled power liftgate and a seven-speaker audio system with speed-sensitive volume control and Bluetooth. Options when it was new include an upgraded stereo, higher-end leather, push-button ignition and navigation.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that choosing the ZDX means making some serious trade-offs. It’s less sporty than most performance-oriented sedans, and gets worse gas mileage than most as well. Yet it doesn’t make up for that with increased practicality because the ZDX offers less cargo space than most other SUVs in its class. If you want a vehicle that’s more fun to drive than most SUVs but more slightly more practical than many sedans, the Acura ZDX is a good compromise. But shoppers who want practicality, fuel economy or true performance should look elsewhere.

Shoppers in the market for a more useful SUV should consider the 2010 Lexus RX 350. It offers excellent fuel economy, class-topping reliability, fantastic safety scores and a lot more cargo capacity. The RX 350’s ride is more smooth and comfortable than firm and sporty, but test drivers said it’s one of the best entries in the class.
For an SUV with style and performance, but one that also retains some utility, take a look at the 2010 Infiniti FX. You can get it with a V6 engine for improved fuel economy or with a V8 for pavement-shredding acceleration, and reviewers said it’s one of the best-handling SUVs in its class. That may mean that its ride is to stiff for some, but the FX does a great job of combining performance, luxury and practicality.
