Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2009 Audi A3 has not been crash tested. But A3s of the same generation did well in insurance industry safety tests. In fact, the A3 was selected by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety as a "Top Safety Pick" for good performance in front, side and rear tests.

Crash Tests

  • The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the 2009 A3 the highest possible rating, "Good," in both frontal offset and side impact tests. In addition, the A3 was also designated a "Top Safety Pick" for good performance in front, side, and rear tests with its standard electronic stability control. 

Safety Features

The 2009 A3's standard safety features include anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control. Adaptive headlamps are optional. Dual-stage front air bags with a passenger-side occupant sensor as well as Sideguard head protection air bags for both front and rear occupants are standard, but rear side-impact air bags are optional.
