The 2010 A4 Avant shines in federal government crash tests -- earning a top score of five stars in front and side impacts, as well as rollover tests. What's more, the insurance industry named the highly-similar 2009 A4 Avant a "Top Safety Pick" and awarded it a score of "Good" (the highest possible) in both frontal- and side-impact crash tests.

Standard safety equipment includes front, front-side and window airbags, as well as Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system and stability control.
