Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
The 2010 Audi A4's look is an evolution of the basic lines the car has followed since the 1990's, but with a more refined edge. Audi pulled in high-end design elements from more expensive cars - like a row of LEDs outlining the car's headlights - that give it an upscale look even for the upscale class.
- "In the flesh are several subtle details such as an upswept lower-body contour, tastefully swollen fenders, and ribs running from the headlamps to the mirrors." -- Car and Driver
- "Matched with the new angular headlamps, LED eyeliner and the subtle protrusion of the front diffuser, the new A4's fascia is both aggressive and elegant. And it needs to be. The profile is as bland as unsalted butter and the rear, particularly when viewed dead-on, is a frumpy rump that contradicts an otherwise taut design." -- Autoblog
- "The front-end gets the blade-styling and LED parking lights introduced in the Audi R8." -- CNET
- "The A4 seems to cut the right profile. From the glimmering LED eyeliner under its headlamps to the lovely interior, it's as tasteful as box seats at the Met. The front-to-back symmetry of previous A4s, mimicked by several automakers, was starting to wear out. So Audi has loosened up the look with a slimmer front end, a lower stance and details like a scalloped crease - Audi calls it the "tornado line" - along the lower doors. " -- New York Times
- "It's well proportioned in a time when too many cars are pushing their front wheels too far to the front." -- Detroit News
- "Pictures are a poor indicator of the new A4's styling... The 2009 Audi A4 also looks expensive, with taut shut lines and neat details like LED running lights" -- Edmunds
- "While the A4's redesign is more evolutionary than revolutionary, park the [2009] next to the [2008] and that previous A4 (which we always felt was a pretty piece) looks about 10 years old in comparison. There are a few sharp creases to make sure the eyes don't wander to other cars and, let's face it: The sinister line of LEDs below the headlamps - borrowed from the R8 - adds to the car's look-at-me appeal." -- Road and Track
