Safety - What the Auto Press Says
Though the federal government hasn't yet crash tested the 2010 A6 Avant, the insurance industry rates the highly-similar 2009 model "Good" (the highest possible) in both front- and side-impact crashes. It's even an insurance industry "Top Safety Pick."
The A6 Avant features a host of safety equipment -- including dual-stage front, knee, and side airbags. Also available is Lane Assist, which ensures safe lane changes, and Side Assist, which helps detect blind spots. Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system makes driving in inclement weather a breeze.
- "We suspect that overly safety-minded customers have clamored for the lane-assist system that makes the steering wheel vibrate excitedly as you are about to veer off the road. In reality, every time you change a lane without using your signal, and every time you dare to cut a corner, you are reminded of your impropriety. The buzz is loud enough for the passenger to notice, too." -- Car and Driver
- "The available Quattro all-wheel-drive system gives the A6 added peace of mind in foul weather." -- Edmunds
