Audi A6

Overall Score - 8.4 (Very Good)

The A6 competes  in the luxury sedan class with a premium interior fit and finish, confident and smooth performance, good fuel economy, and plenty of space for families and cargo.  It suffers from reliability problems that keep it from the top of its class.  The A6 also comes in a wagon trim and the high-powered S6 version. If you're in the market for a luxury large sedan, you should also consider the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Lexus GS.

The 2008 Audi A6, Audi's mid-sized sedan, is praised for its solid performance, elegant interior cabin, striking exterior and authoritative acceleration. It makes a solid choice for the large luxury sedan buyer who wants sporty dynamics with all-wheel drive and taut handling, without sacrificing space to cart the kids and lots of cargo. With a sleek exterior, the A6 demands attention, gliding through lane changes and passing its competitors. U.S. News reviewer Rick Newman says that the 2008 A6 is "hot, long, lean and lithe... one of the most handsome cars on the road."  The A6 is hurt somewhat by a less-than-ideal reliability rating.

The 2008 Audi A6 is a steeply priced luxury sedan, but for that cost, auto reviewers say buyers are rewarded with excellent handling and exemplary fit and finish. The A6 is priced lower than several competitors in the luxury sedan class, such as the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series, making it a worthy choice for luxury value. It's also comparatively affordable to own, boasting fuel economy numbers that only the hybrid-powered Lexus GS450h can beat in the luxury sedan class.  It requires premium fuel, but so does most of its competition. Reviewers add that, options, individual or package, can inflate the base price of the 2008 Audi A6 considerably. Cars.com states that if you have $40,000 plus to spend on a luxury sedan, the A6 is "an appealing alternative to more expensive offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz," because of its "incredibly detailed cabin, a choice of two strong engines and good crash-test scores." IntelliChoice gives the 2008 base model A6 a rating of "Excellent" for its predicted five-year cost of ownership compared to other vehicles in its class.

For 2008, the Audi receives a few additional features, including a headlight washing system, SIRIUS satellite radio, and an S-Line exterior trim.
