Seating

The spacious A8 can seat five adults comfortably. Consumer Guide reports, "Ample room on firm, wide seats with excellent support," and adds the A8 furnishes "bountiful leg room even with front seats fully aft." Consumer Guide also notes the A8's contoured ceiling provides "good six-footer head room."

The A8 is even quieter than before, making for a smooth, luxurious ride. However, Edmunds reports "it's not the quietest car in its class. The new bragging rights are thanks largely to new fiber-type materials and textile surfaces that reduce ambient noise without adding weight." Forbes agrees, saying the A8's interior features "superior comfort" and "quiet elegance."

Interior Features

The A8's first-rate interior is right in line with Audi's expected luxury, and provides high-quality fit and finish. New Car Test Drive calls the cabin "elegant and comfortable, and tops the class in finish quality." Automobile Magazine says "the interior of the A8 looks as conservative as the lobby of a Ritz-Carlton hotel." Consumer Guide adds the cabin's materials and design "stand out even in the high-buck segment."

Reviewers cannot help but compare the Audi Multi Media Interface (MMI), which controls climate and entertainment features, with BMW's controversial iDrive system. Some find the MMI simple and clear, while others note that it's still not ideal. Automobile Magazine says the MMI is "simple, logical, fail-safe, and easy to learn, making it the undisputed new benchmark among interfaces." Forbes writes, "While it's easier to use than BMW's i-Drive system, it's still more distracting than traditional knobs and buttons." Consumer Guide says the MMI is "less confusing than BMW's similar iDrive, but still complicates simple tasks and can thus distract driver."

The A8 also comes with 16-way power adjustable front seats with memory, four-way power lumbar adjustments for both the driver and front passenger, six-way heated front and outer rear seats, dual climate control with separate controls for the driver and front passenger, and a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column. The A8 can be fitted with an optional navigation system and SIRIUS satellite radio.

Cargo

The A8 comes with 14.6 cubic feet of trunk space. Consumer Guide says the trunk is "spacious" and has a "high-rise power lid." Reviewers continue on to mention that the trunk also has a large opening with a low liftover, allowing for easy loading and unloading of cargo. Consumer Guide adds that the in-cabin storage space is "enhanced by pull-open portfolio-sized pockets on all doors."
