Audi S4 - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Audi S4 sedan impresses reviewers with its combination of good looks and sophisticated performance. Still, auto writers criticize its back seat for only being suitable for children.

The majority of auto writers find the S4 sedan to be an exquisite vehicle. The Kansas City Star explains: "The S4 is the sportiest version of the A4, and the combination of a tight suspension, blustery V-8 and all-wheel drive create a four-seat sports car that is seriously quick and a blast to drive." In addition to these performance attributes, the S4 features a refined interior cabin and plenty of standard active and passive safety features. Still, the S4 is not perfect. Reviewers find its back seat cramped and optional navigation system difficult to operate.

The 2008 Audi S4 is available in three body styles: Sedan, Avant (wagon), and Cabriolet (convertible).

  • "Compared to its closest peer, the M3, the Audi is not quite as visceral, but in the real world of rush-hour traffic, potholes and precipitation, the S4 looms as the more practical choice for a compact super sport sedan." -- Carz Unlimited
  • "As it is, the S4 seems biased slightly more than we'd like towards high-speed highway manners, which are impeccable, and it's perfectly suited to everyday use with this caveat: fuel economy." -- Car and Driver
  • "The S4 can handle anything an M3 or C32 can throw at it. And you can even get it in Avant sportwagon form." -- Motor Trend

"Swinging to the rear, the tail lights are sparkling gem-like masterpieces only Tiffany could compete with. For a sporty accent, the sedan offers a rear spoiler."
