Safety - What the Auto Press Says

In federal government crash tests, the 2010 3-Series wagon earns four of five stars in front-impacts and five stars in side-impacts. It also receives a rollover rating of four stars. What's more, the insurance industry has named the highly-similar 2009 3-Series a "Top Safety Pick." The 3-Series wagon features a long list of active and passive safety systems.

  • "The stability control system integrates several features designed to improve braking performance, such as periodically wiping the brake rotors dry when the windshield wipers are in use, and automatically snugging the pads to the rotors when the driver abruptly lifts off the throttle." -- Edmunds
  • "Antilock brakes and an electronic stability system are standard. BMW's Head Protection System uses a side curtain airbag system to protect occupants in both the front and rear seats. Seat-mounted side-impact airbags are installed up front." -- Cars.com
  • "What is far more crucial not just for soccer Mums but all owners are the run-flat tires with flat tire warning." -- The Auto Channel
