Reviewers agree that the all-new 2014 BMW 4 series has an attractive high-quality interior, but how is it out on the road. Hi, I am Jim Sharifi, Senior Editor with U.S. News Best Cars. In this video we will take a closer look at the four series performance.
The BMW 4 series comes in 428i or 435i models. The 428I comes with a turbocharged 2L four-cylinder engine that produces 240 hp. The 435i comes with a 300 hp turbocharged 3L six cylinder engine, 6 speeds manual and eight speed automatic transmissions are offered. The EPA reports that the 428i gets up to 23 miles per gallon in the city and 35 on the highway, while estimates drop slightly to 22 and 32 on the 435i.
Experts agree that the 428i engine is an eager powerful performer. The 435i's turbocharged six cylinder is even more powerful which makes the four series a joy to drive.
Critics write the eight speed automatic transmission shifts so quickly and smoothly that it's almost undetectable. Test driver say the four series has very sharp handling although a few suggest purchasing the optional adaptive and suspension system to further improve its cornering ability. The 4-series also wins points for its precise steering, though some reviewers which it provided better feedback.
