Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Reviewers agree the 2008 7-Series is loaded with tech features and comes heavily equipped with the most current safety innovations. The Detroit News reports that this large sedan is fitted with "World-class safety features." The 7-Series comes with BMW's Advanced Safety System, Dynamic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System, Dynamic Traction Control and Dynamic Brake Control.

The federal government has not crash tested the 2007 or the 2008 BMW 7-Series. Also, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety does not have safety ratings for the 2008 BMW 7-Series.

Accident Avoidance

The 7-Series is equipped with a number of accident avoidance features, including four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, Dynamic Stability Control, an Anti-lock Braking System, Dynamic Traction Control and Dynamic Brake Control.

The 7-Series is a heavy sedan but reviewers agree that these safety features provide unquestionable assurance. The Detroit News reports: "Like the non shuddering antilock brake system, which is silent and keeps the car straight even when stopped at high speed, the stability/traction package remains invisible, fixing errors you probably will never know you made."

Crash Protection

The 2008 7-Series comes with a dual front-impact restraint system, with two-stage air bags, a front and rear Head Protection System, front-seat side-impact air bags and front safety belts with automatic pretensioners and force limiters. Rear-seat side-impact air bags are available as an additional option.
