The 2015 BMW X5 is a luxury midsize SUV that adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel as standard equipment this year.
The 2015 BMW X5 is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that makes 300 horsepower, while an optional turbocharged diesel engine makes 255 horsepower. A 445-horsepower turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine is also available. An eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard. All-wheel drive is optional with the base engine and standard on other trims. The base 2015 BMW X5 earns an EPA-estimated 19/27 mpg, while the diesel model gets 23/31 mpg.
With an available third row, the 2015 BMW X5 can seat up to seven people. A sport leather-wrapped steering wheel is newly standard for 2015. Other standard features include leatherette upholstery, heated 10-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a nine-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, HD Radio, navigation and BMW’s iDrive infotainment system with a 10.2-inch display screen and smartphone integration. Ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, leather upholstery, a 20-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen surround sound audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system are optional. Other available features include BMW’s Surround View parking camera, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and front collision mitigation with automatic braking.
