Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Neither the federal government nor the insurance industry has put the X6 through crash tests. Nonetheless, it features a variety of safety equipment and advanced crash avoidance systems.

Standard safety features include front side-impact airbags, Adaptive Brake Lights, Dynamic Stability Control (including Brake Fade Compensation, Start-off Assistant, Brake Drying, and Brake Stand-by features), Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control, Dynamic Performance Control, Hill Descent Control and Dynamic Cruise Control

Rear visibility is poor due to the X6's sloping rear roof. Fortunately though, BMW offers standard Park Distance Control in the front and rear as well as an optional rearview camera ($400). A $1,200 Head-Up Display projects important information, such as current speed, onto the windshield. This allows the driver to keep their eyes focused on the road ahead and is an especially unique option.
