Best Chevy Deals: February 2010 Lease and Purchase

Last Updated: Feb. 02, 2010

While Chevrolet has been offering zero-percent financing over long terms on some of its most popular 2010 models for months, that gravy train has stopped. Now, if you want to save money on financing, you'll need to opt for a 2009 model.

Of course, that's not a bad thing. For the most part, every 2009 Chevrolet model with incentives for February is nearly identical to its 2010 counterpart. So if you're thinking about passing on a 2009 just because it seems a year older, you could end up costing yourself some serious money.

For example, in February the 2009 Tahoe, which is pretty much the same as the 2010 Tahoe, is available with zero-percent financing for 72 months. The 2010 Tahoe doesn't have any incentives. You'll save more money by opting for the 2009 model instead.

One 2010 that does have an incentive this month is the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. It's available with zero-percent financing for 60 months. However, if you go for the 2009 Malibu, which is nearly the same as the 2010, you can get zero-percent financing for 72 months -- that should lower your monthly payment. Plus, since the loan is interest-free, you won't pay any more even though the loan has a longer term.

It’s still worth checking out what the competition is offering this month. For the most part, however, it looks like Chevy is offering better deals. For example, while Ford is offering up to $3,000 cash back on the 2010 Expedition, by opting for the 2009 Tahoe, you'll end up saving $3,608 in interest payments over the life of the loan (as compared to financing the Expedition at a 4.8 percent interest rate). And while GM has deals on the 2009 and 2010 Malibu sedan, Ford isn't offing any incentives on the Ford Fusion.
