Used Car: 2010 Cadillac CTS Review
The 2010 Cadillac CTS balances agile handling with a comfortable ride and an upscale and luxurious interior, which makes it a compelling choice if you’re looking for a well-rounded 2010 midsize car.

When it was new, critics were captivated by the 2010 CTS, saying its ride, handling and interior are as good as its best German and Japanese competitors. Those looking for more utility should look at the 2010 CTS Sport Wagon, which is reviewed separately. The base CTS received a new engine for 2010, a 3.0-liter V6 that makes 270 horsepower, and critics said it has plenty of power. But for those who need more power, a 3.6-liter V6 with 304 horsepower is also available. Fuel economy for a rear-wheel drive CTS with an automatic transmission is 18/27 mpg city/highway with either engine. Those with all-wheel drive do just slightly worse, and generally, these ratings are about average for the class. A manual transmission is available with either engine and the CTS also offers a Performance trim that includes a sport-tuned suspension, which should please driving enthusiasts. The CTS can haul up to 13.6 cubic feet of cargo in its trunk, which is about average for the class.
Inside, critics were generally pleased with the CTS’ cabin, noting its high-quality interior materials and intuitive design. Most said that all seating positions offered plenty of space, but some wished for more supportive front buckets during hard cornering. The CTS comes standard with dual-zone climate control and satellite radio. Features available on upper trim levels or in option packages include a power sunroof, Bluetooth, backup camera, navigation and a USB port.
Other Cars to Consider
Critics said that the 2010 Acura TL was one of the best choices in the class, and that TLs equipped with Acura’s Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) are deft handlers. Keep in mind that most reviewers said the base front-wheel drive TL is a different animal, and is geared more toward comfort than sport, so it may not be as fun to drive as the base CTS. Like the CTS, the TL has excellent safety and reliability ratings.
The 2010 BMW 3-Series is the benchmark by which most critics judge other sport sedans, thanks to its nimble handling and smooth engines. The trade-off to the 3-Series’ great performance, however is one of the lowest reliability scores in the class. The 3-Series is not as big as the CTS, so while it’s more agile, it’s not as roomy inside. However, the 3-series comes in sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon body styles.
