Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2010 Cadillac CTS scores well in federal government crash tests, earning four stars in frontal-impact crashes, and a top score of five stars in side-impacts. There are several cars in this class, however, that claim five stars all around.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, hasn't tested the 2010 model, but found the mecahnically-similar 2009 CTS extremely safe.  The Institute named the 2009 CTS a "Top Safety Pick" -- meaning that the Caddy earned perfect scores in the Institute's tests and offers standard stability control

Front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags are standard, as is GM's Stabilitrak, which combines Electronic Stability Control and traction control. GM considers its OnStar communications system to be a safety feature. The CTS ships with one year of OnStar service included in the purchase price.
